Amy Smart was an American model as well as actress. Born and brought up in California USA she started her modelling career in Italy. In 1996 she debuted as an actress in the TV movie Her Costly Affair. It was a long road to be a part of Starship Troopers in a smaller character. In the beginning, it was difficult for her to transition from modeling to acting. It's because the majority of models aren't great actors. In the majority of cases, they're only given small, insignificant role. Amy didn't give up, and ultimately she was offered bigger roles in the films Varsity Blues and The 70s. In 2005, she took as the lead in the romance comedy Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds. The film was a major commercial success, and Amy was finally able to get the recognition that she was seeking for more than 10 years. She went on doing some major films such as the Crank series opposite Jason Statham and the series Shameless in which she was a well loved recurring character.
