Amy Smart is an American former actress and model. Growing up and being raised in California USA she started her modelling career in Italy. Her acting debut came in the year 1996 with The TV movie Her Costly Affair. Her struggle to land the role for Starship Troopers, a film which featured only minor characters, was a gruelling battle. It was a difficult transition for Amy since she needed to move from modelling into the acting profession. Models aren't regarded as the best actors, so they usually be given smaller roles that aren't very important. However, Amy was determined to keep going and stepped into more prestigious roles. It all started with the TV series The 70s and the film Varsity Blues. After a few years Amy made the jump into bigger roles. She starred in the love story Just Friends alongside Ryan Reynolds. Amy gained the recognition she'd been seeking for nearly 10 years after her film, Just Friends was released. There were several major films in the Crank trilogy alongside Jason Statham. And she also played a recurring role in the Shameless series.
